Dr. Richard Mark Soley
Dr. Richard Mark Soley is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Object Management Group, Inc. (OMG®). As Chairman and CEO, Dr. Soley is responsible for the vision and direction of the world's largest consortium of its type. Dr. Soley joined the nascent OMG as Technical Director in 1989, leading the development of OMG's world-leading standardization process and the original CORBA® specification. In 1996, he led the effort to move into vertical market standards (starting with healthcare, finance, telecommunications and manufacturing) and modeling, leading first to the Unified Modeling Language (UML®) and later the Model Driven Architecture (MDA®).
Previously, Dr. Soley was a cofounder and former Chairman/CEO of A. I. Architects, Inc., maker of the 386 HummingBoard and other PC and workstation hardware and software. Prior to that, he consulted for various technology companies and venture firms on matters pertaining to software investment opportunities. Dr. Soley has also consulted for IBM, Motorola, PictureTel, Texas Instruments, Gold Hill Computer and others. He began his professional life at Honeywell Computer Systems working on the Multics operating system.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A., Dr. Soley holds the bachelor's, masters and doctoral degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Fima Katz
Fima Katz is the founder, President and CEO of Exadel. He founded the company in 1998 with a vision to fundamentally improve the way companies use innovative technology to develop mission-critical business applications. Through his vision, Exadel is now a leader in the enterprise open source solutions market and a pioneer in utilizing component-based
architecture and open source approaches to radically reduce corporate cost and development time.
Mr. Katz has over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology industry. He has held managerial and technical positions with major financial services companies, including Wells Fargo Bank, Concorde Solutions, and Bank of America, where he served as the Chief Architect of Internet Systems. In addition, he has founded three other successful companies. His technical expertise includes the design of complex, mission-critical distributed object (CORBA/DCOM) systems, and the integration of complex
legacy enterprise systems into business services. Mr. Katz is a recognized authority and speaker on Open Source, JAVA, XML and DOA technologies and has co-authored "The Essential Guide to Object Monitors" (Wiley, 1999). Mr. Katz holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Vilnius University.
Robert Kelley
Robert (Bob) Kelley has been in the field of Information Technology since the days when an organization had only a single computer showcased in a glass walled corporate data center. During his career he has held senior Information Technology Management positions for divisions of fortune 500 companies including Corning Inc. and Thermo Electron as well as management positions in the retail environment for two different northeast based supermarket chains where he led teams that developed and implemented home grown Computerized Maintenance Management, Engineered Labor Standard, Vehicle Scheduling, and Product Replenishment Systems. Early in his career he developed a cycle count program that identified and required counting at the item lot level and not merely just the item level. Bob presented this program and concept to the user community at the IBM Educational Center in Chicago IL.
In 1996 Bob founded his own company DAK Technology Inc. to provide management support and technical guidance to organizations considering implementing computerized systems and technology solutions. Prior to becoming a full time consultant Bob was Director of Information Technology for Biopure Corporation headquartered in Cambridge Massachusetts and as such responsible for all Information Technology services and activities as Biopure successfully filed an Electronic Biologics Application (EBLA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Among his accomplishments he has successfully led and managed teams in selecting and implementing packaged Computerized Maintenance Management, Calibration, Building Management, and Document Management solutions from some of the leading vendors in the industry as well as implementing Preventative Maintenance modules as part of major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) initiatives. Bob has hands-on experience and a wide breath of knowledge and experience with many of the modules from some of the leading industry ERP packages such as SAP and Oracle as well as products such as Peoplesoft and JD Edwards still in use at many organizations.

Bob has extensive experience with the requirements of validated systems and FDA 21CFR part 11 specific to the usage of electronic signatures and audit trails and is considered by his peers to be an expert in these areas. He has provided presentations and training to all levels of personnel at several leading pharmaceutical organizations on these subjects. For the past several years Bob has been exclusively working with pharmaceutical organizations from coast to coast assisting them in successfully selecting and implementing efficient and effective validated systems to support the needs of their business.
Most recently Bob has presented and been a featured speaker on environmental controls and Building Management Systems (BMS) at the California chapter of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE), presented at the Southwest Enterprises (SWE) meeting in Boston on the subject of Asset Management, Repairs & Maintenance Systems, Calibration Systems, and the real cost of spare parts inventory items. Bob is also a current member of the Oracle Clinical User group (OCUG). Bob continues to support pharmaceutical organizations from coast-to-coast and recently completed a major Siemens Building Management System upgrade in Gainesville GA and is set to begin a MAXIMO Asset Management product upgrade.
Karen D. Larkowski
Karen Larkowski is the founder and Chief Evangelist for Green Computing Impact Organization (GCIO). In this role Ms. Larkowski is directed with preserving the mission of GCIO as a strong proponent of minimizing the environmental impact of enterprise computing systems. Through corporate membership fundraising, government program alignment, university participation, and educational speaking engagements she spreads the vision and encourages participation.
An industry spokesperson for more than a decade and a half, Ms. Larkowski is the former Executive Vice President of The Standish Group International, Inc. She is well known for her industry contributions and she has written numerous books, white papers and
articles focused on many facets of the computer industry. She has held multiple advisory sessions with both vendor and end-user clients and offers daily advice on key technology decisions.
Prior to her work at The Standish Group, Ms. Larkowski was National Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the promotion of a Brazilian based On-line Transaction Processing (OLTP) product.
Ms. Larkowski is the co-author of "Essential Guide to Object Monitors" published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
